    ALPHA EDGE BLENDING

    [ TDx_Draw_Library ]     [ next: Alpha Surface ]     [ prev: Alpha Constant ]

In general, an alpha edge blend is a specialised form of alpha blending used to merge contrasting edges in such a way as to reduce the appearance of stairstepping pixels when drawing lines or edges that are not horizontal or vertical. Within direct draw an alpha edge blend can be used to help merge the source image with the destination by smoothing the edge between the normal and the color key areas of the image being blitted.
